AUSTRALIA'S WINE LIST OF THE YEAR AWARDS

In 2008, the Australia's Wine List of the Year Awards returns. Established in 1994 by Tucker Seabrook, the Australia's Wine List of the Year Awards are Australia's most recognised and respected national awards for wine lists. Fine Wine Partners (a merger between Tucker Seabrook and Distinguished Vineyards) in partnership with Australia's leading wine publication, Gourmet Traveller WINE, are proud to continue the history of these awards.

The Australia's Wine List of the Year Awards recognise the enormous investment in time and money necessary for restaurants to develop a quality wine list. With that in mind, the focus of the awards is to assist in improving the standard of wine lists created to complement the outstanding menus on offer.

Tourism is now amongst Australia's most important industries. The future growth of tourism and hospitality depends on the individuality of Australian restaurants and the lasting impression that they make on their customers.

Over 300 restaurants, cafes, bistros, international hotels, pubs and clubs are expected to be involved with the awards annually – proof that these awards which recognise, promote and reward excellence in the on premise area are seen as important by all industry participants.

The most significant way in which this years Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards will be different from the previous Awards, is that the results and successful establishments will be published as part of the August/September 2008 issue of Gourmet Traveller WINE magazine as a must-have reference for wine lovers to maximise their dining experiences nationwide.

Result of the awards will be announced on 4 August 2008 on this website and will be published in the August/September issue of Gourmet Traveller WINE (on-sale 4 August).

Winners will be presented with their Awards at a cocktail function on 4 August 2008.

Gourmet Traveller WINE is Australia's leading publication on the world of wine, celebrating both the local and overseas wine scene. In 2003, 2005 and 2007 it was awarded the prestigious Gold Ladle at the World Food Media Awards for "Best Drink Magazine in the World". Circulation is 23,000 + and it is read by over 70,000 people.
